Beverly Hills, CA (October xx, 2021) – Ryan Phillippe (Academy Award-winning Crash, Robert Altman’s Gosford Park), Kate Bosworth (Sony Pictures Classic’s Still Alice, Warner Bros.’ Superman Returns) and Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible franchise, Pulp Fiction) star in the new thriller The Locksmith, it was announced today by Arclight Films Chairman Gary Hamilton. The film is directed by veteran first assistant director Nicolas Harvard, who makes his feature film debut. The screenplay is written by John Glosser, Joe Russo & Chris LaMont, and Ben Kabialis, based on an original story by Blair Kroeber.
The film is produced by Mark B. David (Poker Face, Spinning Gold) of Golden State Films and Roger Goff (Cut Throat City, The Tiger Rising, Dallas Buyers Club), and executive produced by Walter Josten (Disney’s Holes and Around the World in 80 Days). Arclight Films is handling international distribution rights to The Locksmith and will introduce the film to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market. Arclight Films has sold North American rights to the film to Screen Media. The deal was negotiated by Lina Marrone, Arclight Films’ head of sales, and (name) from Screen Media.
Principal photography will begin on The Locksmith on November 15 in Las Cruces, New Mexico and the film will be ready for delivery in September 2022. “The Locksmith is a captivating thriller with a terrific ensemble cast led by Ryan, Kate and Ving. We are so excited to bring this film to the marketplace and cannot wait to see the cameras roll this fall,” said Arclight Films’ Gary Hamilton. “We’re thrilled to be working with this outstanding cast to bring a great story to the screen” added producer Mark B. David. “It is very gratifying to have Gary and the Arclight team, with their years of experience and solid contacts, as our sales partners.” Miller is an expert locksmith, fresh out of prison after a job gone bad. Back home, he tries to work his way back into the life of his daughter and his ex-girlfriend, Beth, who is now a police detective. Determined to make a clean start, he is forced to use the only skills he has as a gifted locksmith. But things soon get complicated after an unexpected kidnapping and from there, take a tumultuous turn.
Ryan Phillippe gained notice with starring roles in Columbia Pictures’ I Know What You Did Last Summer, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Cruel Intentions and Miramax Films’ 54. His additional film credits include Robert Altman’s Gosford Park, Academy Award-winning Crash, Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers, Lionsgate’s The Lincoln Lawyer and Paramount Pictures’ The Bang Bang Club. On TV, he starred as Bob Lee Swagger in the USA Network thriller drama “Shooter” and appeared as Billy Douglas on ABC’s soap opera “One Life to Live.”
Kate Bosworth rose to prominence with her breakout role as a young surfer in Universal Pictures’ box-office hit Blue Crush. Her film credits include Robert Redford’s The Horse Whisperer, Disney’s Remember the Titans, Lionsgate’s Wonderland, Warner Bros.’ Superman Returns and Sony Pictures Classic’s Still Alice. Recently, she starred as KC in the Netflix sci-fi series “The I-Land.”
Ving Rhames is known for his starring role as IMF Agent Luther Stickell in Paramount Pictures’ Mission: Impossible franchise and his supporting role as gang kingpin Marsellus Wallace in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. His film credits include Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Jacob’s Ladder, Jerry Bruckheimer’s Con Air, Steven Soderbergh’s Out of Sight and Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead.
